Alice in Wonderland Baby Shower

Almost exactly 2 months after I shot my sister-in-law’s intimate, back yard wedding, she sent me a fairly late night instant message, asking me if we were still up. I responded, “yes” and she said, “We’re going to call you. : )” I immediately started desperately searching for my cell phone and excitedly, but quietly (attempting to not wake my sleeping babies), told my husband that Sarah just told me she’s about to call, “WITH A SMILEY FACE!” My heart was about to jump out of my chest! There could only be one reason she would CALL to tell us something, with a smiley face! He asked, “Is she pregnant???” I responded, “I don’t know!! I think she is!!!” She calls my husbands phone at this point because my phone was still missing (it’s not unusual for me to lose my phone). We answer the phone, attempting to sound as calm as possible, and they said it… those beautiful, life changing, magical words….. “WE’RE PREGNANT!” The excitement overcame us! By the time we ended the phone call, both of the boys were wide awake! But we didn’t care! My husband’s youngest sister was going to have a BABY!!!

Then, just a few days before Christmas they found out it’s a GIRL! Knowing they had plans to visit Florida, in March, I grabbed my party planning hat with great enthusment! It’s time for a baby shower! And for Sarah, a typical pink and white theme just didn’t seem right. A Mad Hatter Tea party was more like it! I asked one of Sarah’s best friends, Oshina, to help me with decorations, my mother-in-law, Sharon, to make cookies and my friend, Mallory Archer, to make the cake and then I started PINNING like a mad woman! Also! Last year, Chautauqua Learn and Serve Charter School did an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party in McKenzie Park for local Head-Start children. So, Chautauqua and Heather Parker let us borrow some of the props they had stored at CityArts Cooperative!

This was such a fun shower to put together!
